Grace Hamilton, best known as dancehall royalty Spice, promised that the release of her debut album ‘Ten’ would propel her into a new era in her career complete with hits and stunning visuals.

The August 14 release of the music video for ‘Send It Up’, the second song off of Ten, showed the world just how serious she was.

The music video, directed by acclaimed Jamaican film director and producer Jay Will, begins with Spice receiving an assignment from a Jedi Master-like character. She is tasked with selecting, out of the 10 remaining men in the galaxy, a suitable partner to aid in repopulation efforts. Spice accepts the challenge with a determined “Me cya live without man, so me aguh fin’ dem”.

One of the raunchier songs on Ten, ‘Send It Up’ graphically describes Spice’s preference in the nature of bedroom activities. The risque lyrics are mirrored in the movements of the dancers featured in the music video. The storyline of the music video had Spice along with her white-coated assistants testing and gyrating on the 10 men, including Jamaican social media comedian ‘World Dawg’.

The galactic theme of the music video is pushed by the expertly designed space imagery depicting scenes of planets and laboratory sets that furthered building the song’s intriguing universe. The costumes worn by Spice and the other characters in turn added to the viewers’ watching experience with futuristic silhouettes and reflective colours.

In all, the video was a vibrant and riveting adventure. The music video for Send It Up, released on August 14th, is now available to stream on Youtube.
