Train excursion to be hosted on Emancipation Day

The Transport Ministry has announced that the Jamaica Railway Corporation (JRC) will be hosting a round-trip train excursion on Emancipation Day, August 1, with a live performance from veteran artiste General Degree.

The trip will run from the Spanish Town leg of the railway to the Linstead leg.

The Jamaica Railway Corporation will be having a roundtrip train excursion on Emancipation Day, August 1, 2023, from the Spanish Town Train Station to the Linstead Train Station departing at 10:00 am.

The Prime Minister in a post says “A tour guide will walk you through the history of different sites on the journey”

The Ministry states that boarding for the excursion begins at 9:30 am with the train set to depart at 10 am and will include a tour guide and entertainment.

Passengers will also get to experience the Linstead community, where vendors will have Jamaican treats and other items on sale.
 
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the JRC’s Head Office at 142 Barry Street, Downtown Kingston, The Spanish Town Train Station, and Genus Pharmacy in Portmore.

They are priced at $1,500 for adults and $750 for children 3 to 12 years old.

Secured parking will be available at the Spanish Town Train Station.
