Manchester City made club history on Saturday after beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final to be crowned European Champions for the first time.

City also made it square by completing the English treble at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

A 68th minute goal from Rodri made all the difference for the Premier League Champions, who seemed to have been placed on the back foot following the forced substitution of inspirational midfielder Kevin DeBruyne due to an injury.

The win, Pep Guardiola’s first with the Manchester team also saw them become just the second English club behind city rivals Manchester United to secure all three major trophies in a single season to complete one of the hardest hauls in club football.

City’s historic Treble achievement also concretizes Guardiola as the first manager in history to bring a team to such an acclaimed position having previously guided Barcelona in the 2009/2010 season.

Having now conquered Europe they will now aim to be crowned the best club in the world when they contest the club world cup as UEFA’s representative.
