Jamaica’s Under 17 Reggae Girlz continued their unbeaten run at the CONCACAF Women’s Championships, after dismantling Cuba 4-0, in their round 16 fixture to advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday, at Estadio Félix Sánchez, Dominican Republic.

The young Reggae Girlz who entered as favorites to claim victory in the fixture, confirmed those expectations as early as the 2nd minute through striker Natoya Atkinson.

The Jamaica number 9, rose best to head-in a wonderfully squared corner from Shaneil Buckley to set the early tone for the game. Buckley then moved from provider to scorer, after finishing a brilliant individual run in the 52nd minute to double their lead.

Atkinson then returned for her second goal and her fourth in as many games; steering in a well worked link-up-play between Buckley and Maya Raghunandanan to make it 3-0.

The game was later put to bed as a competition when Captain Domonique Wilson volleyed home Jamaica’s fourth goal in the 72nd minute to complete the routing and confirm Cuba’s elimination.

The win, Jamaica’s fourth in five games, secured their quarter final spot in the tournament, where they’re expected to face powerhouse and rival USA in one the highly anticipated match up of competition.
