Dancehall sensation Valiant seems to be on the cusp of another slang-driven hit song following the viral uptake of his “Barbie” reference from his preview single.

Valiant who previewed what seemed to be his next drop during a live session recently had the Barbie reference as the main preface of the track.

“Dem boy deh don’t got no barbies” which based on the previewed release forms part of the intro and possibly the bridge of the “Christmas Special” by the artiste.

“Fada dipo” whose very rise to fame stemmed from the viral nature of his ‘kotch e hat’ slang during a fortuitous moment on the set of his Siance video shoot, seems to be unto another slang wave with his pending track.

Barbie of course a slang used as a term of endearment to women as a reference to being very attractive. The refreshed jargon by the deejay marks an update to the popularized ‘dolly’ fad in the summer most notably used by our spectacular female athletes during the World championships in Eugen Oregon in July.

The single has yet to be officially released however its accompanying slang has already begun to take root among popular jargon within the dancehall and local pop spaces.

Given the early reception of the preview and the growing notoriety of the slang, a firm foundation is already being set for another major release by the dancehall’s current king of trending in Jamaica.

Valiant who currently occupies the number 2 spot on most streamed musical content locally on YouTube with Dunce cheque, following four weeks at the summit, has registered several top trending tracks since his break out in September.

This includes a rare monopoly of the top five trending songs on the platform in November with- North Carolina, Siance, C.A.L, Dunce Cheque and Scholar all occupying all five spots consecutively at the time.

All tracks have exceeded 3 million streams on his channel alone with his most recent drop ‘speed off’ another beneficiary of TikTok viral popularity seemingly following suit, already racking up over 1.2 million views after 12 days of streaming to be currently the third most trending song on the island.

Valiant has maintained his wave of currency since his break at the latter part of summer and looks set to carry over his success into the Christmas period.
