Vendors beg for abandoned baby

“Give her to me”, was the cry from the vendors in and around the Coronation Market on Tuesday following news that a newborn girl was found inside the neighbouring arcade, Oxford Mall.

Oxford Mall, more commonly known as ‘Back market’ was the scene of mixed emotions, about 7 p.m. Monday when the toddler was found.

Vendors told Sleek Jamaica Media that they were happy that the baby was found and handed over to the authorities.

A woman said, “I was here when they found her and people cry.

Mi wish dem could give her to me. The baby is so so pretty. My god.”

According to the Kingston West police, the child was found inside the market and was assisted to the Bustamante Hospital for Children where she was checked.

“The baby nice, mi never know people still a do dem thing there. It shocking to everybody. Mi wish dem would give her to me. Me love baby and she sweet”

the female vendor said.

There was one male vendor who was taken aback by the news.

He told Sleek Jamaica Media,

“It hard for me as a man to see and hear this. What about the father? A man nuh come look for him youth, if a my youth mi nah stop until I find her and the mother will have some explaining to do.”
