Vybz Kartel’s Dancehall Royalty hits the US Reggae charts

Incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel debuts at number two on the US Current Reggae Albums chart with his five-song effort Dancehall Royalty.

The chart lists the top-selling albums in the United States according to sales tracker Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Dancehall Royalty sees Kartel collaborating with his son Likkle Vybz on all except one track.  My Own World features Renee 630, while Dirty John Crow features Gaza VP, Sikka Rymes.

This is the third release from Kartel within the past year and the second to have hit the US Current Reggae Albums chart.

Last June, Of Dons and Divas peaked at number one.  To Tanesha which was marketed as a hip-hop/rap project, only charted at number 87 on the Top Current Album Sales chart.

Released on January 8, Dancehall Royalty bears the Short Boss Muzik/Vybz Kartel Muzik imprints. It sold 161 copies in its first week of release.

Kartel is yet to score a number one title on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. 2016’s King of the Dancehall peaked at number two.
