Former National Head Coach Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore has been officially confirmed as the new manager at Jamaica Premier league outfit Mount Pleasant Football Academy.

The appointment was officially confirmed by the club on Wednesday, and comes days after their interest in the former Reggae Boy.

Whitmore who has been on the ‘sidelines’ from the sport since getting the sack as Reggae Boyz head coach in December, has expressed anticipation for this newest challenge ” It will be a challenging task, but one that I am up to and I am looking at this appointment as an important way of contributing to the development of Jamaica’s football,” Whitmore said in a statement by the club Wednesday.

The club’s management was full of praise for the former national coach stating that his appointment falls in-line with their vision for the club’s development.

“Coach Whitmore is charged with building on the strengths and successes of the club over the past four years,” the club said. “The club, having been promoted to the Jamaica’s top tier four seasons ago, has been steadfast in building our foundations and ensuring there is a platform for not only success but continued growth” they added in the release.

Whitmore replaces Englishman Nicky Eaden, who guided the team to fourth in the regular season of the JPL before they knocked out of the play-off on penalties by Cavalier in the quarter-final.
