The Williams Sisters is set to have one last hurrah together, after they were announced as teammates for the double’s competition at the US Open.
Serena 40, who is contesting what is expected to be her final career tournament, has been given a wildcard to play with older sibling Venus 42 at Flushing Meadows.
The Williams sisters have won 14 major doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals together.
The game will be the pair’s first double game together since the 2018 French Open, when they lost in the third round.
Their first Grand Slam title together came at the 1999 French Open, and they won their 14th at Wimbledon in 2016.
Coincidentally, it was that same year where the precocious Serena aged 17-years old, lifted the singles title, her first career major.
Last month, Serena announced she is “evolving away” from the sport and will play her final tournament at Flushing Meadows.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion will play Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic in the first round, on Monday.
Venus, a seven-time majors champion, is also set to be active in the tournament after being given a wildcard. She will face Belgium’s Alison van Uytvanck in her opener on Tuesday.
