Scottish-style barley ale Beithir Fire is gaining international attention not only for its potency as the world’s strongest beer but also for its alcohol concentration, which can make your tongue numb.
The beer packs a whopping 75% ABV (Alcohol By Volume) and comes with a warning label urging drinkers not to exceed 35ml in one sitting according to its website.
Launched in 2021 by Scotland’s 88Brewery, the beer quickly gained a reputation for its intense alcohol content and the unusual sensation it creates, with reports of making your tongue go numb.
“This beer is not for the faint-hearted; it is recommended to enjoy in small doses of 35ml measures. We are not responsible for the risks you may take and don’t encourage you to be the hard(wo)man.”
Brewed for two months and then blended, Beithir Fire undergoes fermentation and triple filtration to achieve its potent punch, Dagens reports.
The beer recently experienced viral status after “TikToker” Dan from @1minutebeerreview confirmed the intensity of the beverage noting the burning and numb feeling of his tongue.
“It tastes like burning, I need to go and lie down,” Dan said, wiping sweat from his brow after sampling the potent brew.
