After explicit AI-generated images of pop singer Taylor Swift began making the rounds on X, the social media platform blocked searches of the singer.
This comes as fake graphic images of the singer appeared on the site earlier this week, and went viral, being viewed millions of times.
This prompted an alarm from US officials and accounts sharing the fake images was flagged by her fans, who populated the platform with real images and videos of her, using the words “protect Taylor Swift”.
According to the BBC, X’s head of business operations Joe Benarroch speaking on the block of Taylor Swift search, said it was a “temporary action” to prioritise safety.
