Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now the oldest scorer in Serie A history, after netting AC Milan’s lone goal in their 3-1 loss to Udinese last Saturday.
Ibrahimovic, 41, converted a retaken penalty in the first-half of extra time, to then level the fixture 1-1 to cancel Roberto Pereyra’s ninth strike for Udinese.
The goal was the Swede’s first since returning from a serious knee injury.
The veteran striker aged 41 years and 166 days, passed the record set by Alessandro Costacurta (41 years, 25 days) as the league’s oldest-ever goal scorer.
Although the many-time champions conceded two more goals courtesy of Gomes Betuncal (45’+6minutes), Ehizibue (70’minutes) in the loss, they will be buoyed by the performance of Ibra on his return.
It’s also good news for Sweden’s head coach Janne Andersson, who recalled the veteran striker to the national team for their Euro championship qualifier later this month.
Ibrahimovic helped Milan to the Serie A title last season before going into surgery in the summer for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
He only returned to action in February, making just three substitute appearances before starting Saturday’s game as captain.
