1,117 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

Jamaica on Sunday recorded 1,117 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 120,682.

There were 5 additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,599. There was one coincidental death. Six deaths are under investigation. However, the number of deaths under investigation increased to 379.

The deceased are:

  • A 65-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 79-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 72-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 70-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 75-year-old woman from St Catherine

These deaths occurred between September 2021 and January 2022.

The positivity rate decreased from 52.1 per cent to 48 per cent. The total number of tests: 3,355.

Of the 1,117 new cases, St Catherine accounted for the highest number with 245.

Kingston and St Andrew, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 227; St James followed with 156; St Ann with 116; Trelawny with 81; Westmoreland with 48; Clarendon and Manchester with 44 each; St Mary with 39; Hanover with 33; St Thomas with 32; St Elizabeth with 28; Portland with 24.
